Project Description
Back from the Brink is one of the most ambitious conservation projects ever undertaken. Its aim – to save 20 species from extinction and benefit over 200 more through 19 projects that span England; from the tip of Cornwall to Northumberland.
We’ll be heading out onto Dorset’s heaths each Wednesday from 10 – 2 to carry out species monitoring for a variety of invertebrates. You’ll be led by National Trust and Back from the Brink staff with training by specialist ecologists. We’ll be visiting a variety of sites including those managed by the National Trust, RSPB and ARC
Each session will focus on one species and training will be provided so no experience is necessary, although we’re certainly keen to have volunteers with previous invertebrate survey experience.
Surveys require some moderate walking over uneven ground, so suitable footwear is required. No equipment is needed however if you have binoculars, gps, clipboard and a notepad you may wish to bring them.
On occasion places will be limited due to the nature of the survey or parking at the site. To find out more please use the contact information.
