Project Description

In the spring and summer our tasks often involve the construction or maintenance of paths, boardwalks and fences, while autumn is traditionally the time for maintenance of ponds and water meadows. Autumn and winter months see the management of woodlands, heathland and downland by coppicing, hedge-laying and scrub-bashing, usually with a roaring bonfire.

The majority of our work is for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation, Hampshire County Council, local councils and various charities. We work for a few private owners who are dedicated to looking after sites for their nature conservation value.

New volunteers are always welcome and no previous experience is required. Before work starts training is given in the safe use of tools and any potential hazards are explained. Experienced volunteers will explain and demonstrate work techniques.

Please come along and give it a try, there is no need to become a member first.
